• spiderman emma stoneThe British Glass entry features its three-year programme to facilitate collaboration between glass manufacturers and government to create a decarbonisation action plan – setting out the sectors’ priorities for energy efficiency and decarbonisation in areas such as research and development, technology implementation, energy infrastructure, recycling, skills and funding. In April of this year all ten of the UK’s large-scale glass manufacturers signed up to the voluntary action plan. Founded in 2006, Fenster is one of the West Country’s leading aluminium suppliers. In addition to offering the full range of products from Smarts, the company also manufactures Üni_Slide, an ultra-slim aluminium sliding door, equally suited to commercial and residential applications. The popular programme, which has been running since 2011, and regularly draws audiences in excess of 4m, sees a team of home improvement experts led by Alan Titchmarsh transform properties for deserving families in difficult circumstances. “We’re obviously delighted to be featured in Love Your Home and Garden. It’s very pleasing to be recognised as a leading provider of aluminium windows and doors – but it’s just as satisfying to be supporting good people going through hard times. “Our entry for this award is a thank you to them for their vision and willingness to do things differently. It’s also a thank you to BEIS for the courage and far-sightedness they have shown in working constructively with industry to fit their approach to the needs and circumstances of UK manufacturing.” Friends and colleagues gathered to applaud worthy winners across seven categories – and recognise the creativity and dedication which underpin the whole sector’s contribution to the economy, to society and to customers, staff and stakeholders.
