  • best alarm clock to wake a heavy sleeperThis beautiful bespoke bottle was designed by M&E Design. It perfectly demonstrates how glass can be used as a vessel for ambition, style, and sophistication. The bottle was created with none of the usual visual cues of a standard whiskey bottle. Instead, it was crafted to celebrate the liquid inside and the process behind its creation. The design takes its cues from laboratory glassware found in the micro-distillery and the paneling of a whiskey cask. It has been shaped to refract and bounce light. The side panel embossing produces a Kaleidoscope of patterns within the body of the bottle, bringing Method and Madness together. The unique bottle is also adorned by a range of eye-catching, hand designed labels. Each label is divided into three distinct parts: The first, an ordered pattern to represent ‘method', the middle panel showcases the logo and the third, a marbling pattern created to represent ‘madness’. Widely respected for its expertise in high-end aluminium glazing products, Fenster was approached by programme-makers and asked to supply a premium-quality sliding door. The Method and Madness range includes four new Irish whiskeys. Each whiskey has its own twist; a single pot still Irish whiskey finished in French chestnut, a single grain Irish whiskey finished in virgin Spanish oak, a single malt Irish whiskey enhanced by French limousin oak and a 31-year-old single cask, single grain limited edition bottled at cask strength. The UK glass industry is pursuing an active programme on energy efficiency and decarbonisation. But building the business case to secure funds remains a barrier. Capital costs can be very high and paybacks periods are often in excess of two years; traditional loans are usually unattractive for this work. “Our entry for this award is a thank you to them for their vision and willingness to do things differently. It’s also a thank you to BEIS for the courage and far-sightedness they have shown in working constructively with industry to fit their approach to the needs and circumstances of UK manufacturing.” The new architecture also means the pages on the content rich site now load in milliseconds, ensuring that potential customers visiting the site are engaged for long enough to register their interest.
